A Fusion Wedding That Honoured Every Part of Their Story

E&L’s wedding was a beautiful South Asian fusion celebration, blending the bride’s Bangladeshi heritage and the groom’s Hawaiian and Chinese lineage, full of cultures, traditions, and aesthetics that felt completely intentional and completely them. Events like this are exactly why I do what I do. There’s something so special about watching a couple weave together the threads of where they come from into something that feels entirely new, and entirely theirs.

Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center: A Venue Worth Knowing

The Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center is genuinely one of the most beautiful outdoor wedding venues in the greater Atlanta area. Set within Georgia’s natural landscape, the grounds gave E&L’s day a warmth and openness that felt like the setting was celebrating alongside them. If you’re searching for a venue outside of Atlanta that’s a little different, somewhere that feels rooted in the land rather than a traditional ballroom, this is one to put on your list.

As someone who photographs weddings across the East Coast and flies in from the UK, I’m always drawn to venues that offer that kind of light and space. The Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center delivers both in abundance.

Wedding photography on film: Ektar 100 and Portra 400

One of the things I love most about E&L’s wedding is that we captured part of their day on film, specifically Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Portra 400. For those who aren’t familiar, Ektar 100 gives you rich, saturated colours with incredible fine grain, perfect for outdoor daytime shooting in Georgia’s natural light. Portra 400 is warmer, softer, and handles skin tones beautifully, which makes it one of my favourite stocks for portraits and intimate moments.

Shooting hybrid, aka both digital and film, means E&L’s gallery has a range and texture that purely digital work can’t quite replicate. The film frames carry a weight to them. They feel timeless in a way that’s hard to manufacture.
